The artwork: Women's Dreaming
Women’s Dreaming depicts women’s ceremonial sites surrounding Tjukurla in the western desert of Central Australia, traditional homelands of the artist’s great grandmother, along with the fire, bush tucker and waterholes important to the women during ceremony.
About the artist: Khatija Possum
For Khatija Possum, painting is in her blood. A descendant of the famous Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, she was born in 1989 in Alice Springs and learnt to paint by observing and assisting her mother, Michelle Possum Nungurrayi – a process that keeps culture alive as stories and skills pass from one generation to the next.
